Day 7 of 49

Yesterday we went over the PEI bridge.  It is 9 miles long.  We are now on Prince Edward Island or as the locals and all call it PEI.  It misted/rained on us all day and was over cast too.  It was still a pretty drive.
We were so glad it was not windy on this thing.  They do shut it down when it is.

We are in Anne of Green Gables country and this is the first of many reminders we will see of that fact.  This is a statue in a shopping complex on the first off ramp after the PEI bridge.  This was a nice complex and I found a really pretty hoodie that I purchased.

Anne of Green Gables (1908) is a bestselling novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montogomery. Written as fiction for readers of all ages, the literary classic has been considered a children's novel since the mid-twentieth century. It recounts the adventures of Anne Shirley, a young orphan girl mistakenly sent to Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, a middle-aged brother and sister who have a farm on Prince Edward Island and who had intended to adopt a boy to help them. The novel recounts how Anne makes her way with the Cuthberts, in school and within the town.
Since publication, Anne of Green Gables has sold more than 50 million copies and has been translated into 20 languages. Numerous sequels were written by Montgomery, and since her death another sequel has been published The original book is taught to students around the world.
It has been adapted as films, made for television movies, and animated and live-action television series. Plays and musicals have also been created, with productions annually in Canada since 1964 of the first musical production, which has toured in Canada, the United States.  Some of the caravan peeps are going to the musical on Monday.

It was a great trip with many twists and turns.  Rog said at on point that he had made the most complicated left turn he has ever made.  They are like round-a-bouts in the states, but not, just really complicated ways of doing things.  We are glad we have very good turn by turn instructions to follow from the caravan peeps.  It was a beautiful drive.

We are staying a in KOA campground here on the island and will be here 4 days.  We will be going on an outing in the morning touring the island with many stops for 7 hours.  I will have many pix to share.
